The first ODI match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka is being played on the Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to bat first.
PITCH REPORT - Craig Cumming with the report on the surface. He first says that the sun is just coming out and the clouds are clearing out with wonderful pleasant conditions to play cricket. Adds that there are big outfields here at this ground. Coming to the surface, he feels it has a good covering of grass that will hold the pitch together. Takes a touch and reckons that it is hard and the only worry will be if the ball holds up in the pitch. Doesn't expect it to turn a lot but have good carry throughout. A 275-280 wicket he feels.
